HISTORY OF SETTLERS

WILLARD THOMPSON

Alexander MacArthur and his wife Ellen Lee lived here. They had a family of five boys and two girls. The farm was taken over by their son Newton and his wife Cathern MacArthur from Grand River. They had seven daughters and one son. Their son John and his wife Edna Mill, farmed for some years before selling and moving to Western Canada. They had one son. Later three daughters were born. William Profitt then bought the farm and he and his wife, Hazel MacMurdo of Kelvin Grove, farmed for a number of years. Their family’s names are Wendell married to Dorothy Allen, Summerside; Georgie (Mrs. Walter Simmons, Traveller’s Rest); David (deceased) and Rowan married to Muriel Mac! Lellan, Halifax. The Profitt’s sold to C. C. Baker, who later sold to John W. Thompson and his wife Pearle Bynon. Their family are, Ella (Mrs. Herbert Simmons, St. Eleanors) ; Keith, married to Gladys Moase. They llved in Margate for awhile before moving to New Annan; Carrie (Mrs. Charles Beairsto, Dartmouth, NS); and Willard, who married Shirley Moase, New Annan in 1954. Willard’s father died in 1954. Willard now

farms there. They have four children: Brian, Beverley, Bruce and Beth— any.
