first house was directly across the driveway from the present one which was built in 1898. The farm property was sold in 1901 to Alfred Mayhew, a nephew of James Bentley. Mr. Mayhew, born in 1872 was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Mayhew. Alfred married Katherine MacKay of Clifton and they lived on the farm now owned by John Henderson until 1901 when they bought this farm. They had three daughters and four sons. Ruth married Wilbur Dennis, Margate and Elsie married Chester Howard, Mar- gate. Hazel married Heath Campbell, Long River; Harold married Buelah Woodside, Clinton; George married Hilda Mayhew, Graham’s Road. His second wife was Etta Huestis, Wilmot. Heath married Mar- ion Caseley, Kelvin Grove and settled on the home farm. Frank served in the second world war. He married Audrey Fraser of Charlottetown. Heath’s family are: Clair married to Jean Larkin, Kensington, Freda (Mrs. Thomas MacKenzie, Sept. Isles, Quebec) and Diane (Mrs. Keith Silliker, Margate). After five years in the Royal Canadian Navy, Clair came home to live on the farm. He lived where Keith Silliker now lives for a time but later traded homes with his father. Clair’s family are, Larry, Nancy, Barbara, Donald and Ambyr. New barns were built on the property in 1918 and were destroyed by fire in 1966. A pole barn and silo were built in 1967 and this barn was partially destroyed by fire in 1970.

This property was owned by Thomas Fitzsimmons and his Wife. They had a family of three girls. Annie, Rebecca and Evelina. James Gallagher (now deceased) was brought up at the Fitzsimmons home. He married Shirley Hughes of Kensington. Their family were: Terry, Virginnia and Luanne before leaving Margate.
The property was later purchased by Edward Adams who married Viola Day of Norboro (now deceased).
They have a family of five. Ralph, mentioned elsewhere. Thelma (Mrs. Willard Stewart of Kensington.) Lorne, mentioned elsewhere. Keith (married Reta DeRoche living in Kensington.) Isabel, nursing in Ontario.

This land was bought from Preston Woodside by Frank Major. He had a new house built here. Frank married Eva Cameron and they first lived next to Ellsworth Champion’s home. The Major family are: Ger- ald. Daisy. Harriet, Junior (deceased), Thomas and Roscoe. The Majors moved to Charlottetown and sold their home and property in Margate to Eric Jessome who is married to Rebecca Stewart. They have two daugh— ters: Gail and Carolyn.
