Roy Thompson

Paul Thompson born 1782 in Kendal, County of Westmoreland, Eng— land. He married Mary Ann Dixon and settled at Margate about 1820. He was said to be the first school teacher at Malpeque. He died in 1862. The youngest of his children Hiram was born in Margate, March 31st, 1824. He married (1) Catherine Hawley, Who died in 1871. He then married (2) Catherine Normore Cook of Newfoundland. There were six children from the first marriage, namely: (1) Paul, (2) Theodosia, 3) Carrie, (4) Hiram Daniel, (5) Margaret Jane and (6) Artimas Lea.

Hiram Daniel born in 1865 married Frances Profitt of Burlington. She died in 1914 and Hiram died in 1931. Eleven children from this mar- riage are:

( 1) Winnie (Mrs. C. C. Baker) —— Besides in Kensington.

(2) Ralph married Sadie Pickering of Sherbrooke. Residing in Long River.

(3) Horace married Florence Heaney of Clinton. Farming in Long River. Horace died in 1969.

(4) Byron married Ann Bernard of Kensington. He died in 1962. (5) William Wendell born in 1900 died in 1920. (6) Earl Borthwick born in 1901 died in 1903.

(7) Stanley married Katherine Caseley of Kelvin. Reside in Charlotte— town.

(8) Clifford married Eileen Sullivan, Toronto.

(9) Roland married Myrtle Vinjie. Reside in Calgary. He died in 1970. (10) Roy farming on homestead of five generations.

(11) Dorothy (Mrs. Norbert Brennan). Besides in Toronto.

Roy married Mamie Connell of Margate in 1943. The house is the fourth, built in 1925, when fire destroyed the former one. Their sons are Kenneth mentioned elsewhere) and Wayne married Shirley Hickey of Darnley, March 25th, 1972.

Lorne Adams

This property was first setled around 1880 by John Tuplin who operated a flour mill and farmed. The property was later sold to Gordon Woodside who built the present house about 1900. He married Florence
