A delightful event, illustrative of the willingness of the people to work together, occurred on August 27, 1926, when a group gathered in some barrens belonging to Mr. Cameron McLaughlan , Head of Hills¬ borough, for the purpose of picking blueberries to raise funds for the Women's Missionary Society. After a supper, "served in Mrs. McLaugh- lan's good style," the members marketed 185 pounds of berries at the H. A. Johnston Co . plant. Another instance of the same spirit is recorded in the press during late October, 1934 when these same people gave freely of their potatoes, turnips, and other vegetables to load a box-car for des ¬ patch to the Depression stricken west. An important milestone in the history of Presby- terianism was celebrated on October 18, 1964, the 111th anniversary of the ordination and induction of Rev. Henry Crawford , the village's first regular minister. Mr. Hugh Lowry ably officiated at both morning and evening services which were marked by special music and the dedication of a hymnboard and other gifts. It is interesting to observe that Rev. Crawford celebrated the 50th Jubilee of his ordination at St. Peter 's Bay in 1903. Mr. Lowry , a native of Ireland, was with the Mount Stewart church and its associates in the charge for over six years. His initial appoint¬ ment in Canada was with the General Board of Missions under which he served in the Presbytery of Bruce for 41/2 years. He subsequently served in the Leaskdale- Lindsay Presbytery and in Winnipeg before coming to the Island in 1960. During his ministry here many improvements were made in the church property, and he carried out a very active programme among the Charge's young people. In 1966, he accepted the invitation of the Kirk Session of Zion Church, Charlottetown , to be assistant minister. A list of ministers, together with their years of service at Mount Stewart , follows: 1930-1932, Rev. Morgan E . Genge; 1933-1935, Rev. John A . Pritchard; 1936-1941, Rev. John C .
