FAMILY OF DAVID LAWSON, ESQUIRE, OF COVEHEAD

David Lawson was the first land agent for Sir James Montgomery. He, his wife, Ellen, and probably three sons, William, John and James and two unmarried daughters came on the "Falmouth" in 1770. John was probably married at the time of the voyage. His son was baptized by Mr. Drummond, 3 Mar. 1771. Drummond several times mentions Bell Lawson and following the u5ua1 family pattern of names, this was likely Isabella who married Cornelius Higgins. David Lawson died before April, 1798, when his son William was head of the Lawson household in Lot 34. It may have included John's family as well. William Lawson was born about 1745 and died at Covehead in February, 1836, aged 91 years (P. E. I. Register", Tuesday, 23 Beb. 1836). The following is from a newspaper
