It is believed that ”Dougald McCallum, weaver, was one of the paSSengers on board the "Falmouth". It is believed that Dougald
MacCallum's wife, Margaret Shaw, was a daughter (or sister) of
Neil Shaw, who came out to the Island with his family in 1770. It is believed that they settled a short distance from Brackley Pt. and namedpthe area Cantyre after their homeland in Scotland. A small brewery was operated at that location on P. E. I. Many descend-
ants of Dougald MacCallum and Margaret Shaw still live in the
Brackley - Winsloe area.
