The Spirit of the celebrations may be Summed up by the following
poem by Mrs. Eleanor (Kielly) McCabe.
THE FALMOUTH - 1770
The Falmouth sailed from Scotland's shore,
Two hundred years ago I deem; She braved the wild Atlantic waves,
Bringing settlers to Isle Ste. Jean.
Her hull and masts were made of wood, Strong were her sails it seems, For it took her two long months
To reach, the Island of Ste. Jean.
Our forefathers were aboard that ship A perilous voyage it must have been, And excelled only by the joy
Of seeing Isle Ste. Jean.
