AULD; creek, lot 34, Auld's in Meacham, 1880, which shows James and

Wm. Auld nearby settler. Auld's Mills were here in 1844.

BARGES (etang des); pond, lots 34, 7, 35. Name used by de la Rogue,

1752; Wright 1852 and Wright and Cundall 1874 have Etang du Berge.

Barge or berge means "boat". Chart and Meacham, 1880 show three ponds hereabouts, sand deposits having evidently altered the con-

figuration of the land.

COVEHEAD; bay, Lots 33 and 34. Also settlement, lot 34. Petit Raciot of de la Roque, 1752. Harrington settlement and Rustico bay. There was a post office named Covehead in 1865. A plan, 1811, shows "road from Cove Head". The bay was settled in 1770 and 1790. The name seems to have been applied first to describe a settlement at

the "head of the cove" or bay.

HARRINGTON; settlement, lot 33. Covehead bay is named Harrington bay on Holland, 1765. After Wm. Stanhope (1719 - 1779), Viscount Petersham, 2nd Earl of Harrington. Hence the settlement name found

in Meacham, 1880.
