l873—July 1, Prince Edward Island becomes a Province of the Canadian Confederation. County Courts established.

1878—5. S. Northern Light placed on the winter route between Charlottetown and Pictou and Georgetown and Pictou.
1885—Small pox epedemic in P. E. Island. 1885—Dec. zlst, Charlottetown first lighted by electricity.
1899—Contingents from Militia of the Province leave to take part in South African war.
