1861—P. E. Island Land Commission appointed.

l863—Constitution of Legislative Council changed and Councillors made elective.

1865— Stock Farm established in East Royalty.

l873—July 1, Prince Edward Island becomes a Province of the Canadian Confederation. County Courts established.

i875—-The town of Summerside incorporated. i876—April 29th, Law Society established in Charlottetown. i877—The Public Schools Act passed.

1878—5. S. Northern Light placed on the winter route between Charlottetown and Pictou and Georgetown and Pictou.

1885—Small pox epedemic in P. E. Island. 1885—Dec. zlst, Charlottetown first lighted by electricity.

1899—Contingents from Militia of the Province leave to take part in South African war.
