But while it recognizes two classes in the student body, in Normal Work only is the distinction observed. The curriculum is conformed to the common needs of the teacher and of the student seeking a general education. It includes English, Latin, French, Greek, History, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigono- metery, Book—Keeping, Agriculture, Botany, Physical Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, Drawing, Manual Training. Household Science, Principles and Practice of Teachlng.

Apart from the public schools, with the high schools and college, maintained by the Provincial Government, there are a number of other educational institutions throughout the Province. At the head of these are St. Dunstan’s College, for the education of young men, and Notre Dame Academy, for young women,— both in Charlottetown.

ST. DUNSTAN'S COLLEGE.

This college is a development of St. Andrew‘s College, found— ed at St. Andrew’s, near Mt. Stewart, in the year 1831. It was established at Charlottetown and opened in the year 1855. At present it is under a Board of Governors, which includes the Right Rev. HenryJ. O’Leary, D. D., Bishop of Charlottetown, President; Very Rev. J. C. McLean, V. G , Rev. John Chaisson, D. D., Rev. A. P. McLellan, Rev. P. D. McGuigan, Peter Conroy, Esq., M. D., and James]. Hughes, Esq., M. P. Besides a Classical course and a course in Philosophy together with religious instruction, it supplies a commercial course, which comprises book-keeping, com- mercial arithmetic, commercial correspondence, commercial law, English history and geography and a practical business training. Every year a number of students from Quebec, the United States and other countries attend its classes. The faculty and officers now consist of Rev. G. J. McLellan, D. D.
