     Under the supervision of the Public Works Department the 
     
     Road Act is operated throughout the province by four hundred 
     
     and seventy Roadmasters. Each Roadmaster has control of seven 
     
     or eight miles of road,—a|so all the bridges and culverts situated 
     
     in his district.
