On shore I was greeted warmly by Ruth Heartz and her father and mother. At their beautiful summer-cottage they extended me every kindness as well as a “lodging for the night" and next morning came down to the beach to see me off. As I started away, I though how much easier it would be to “portage” over to Mt. Stewart and head down the Hillsboro‘ River and back home to Tea Hill. As a glance at a map will show, I was now directly opposite the point on the South side of the Island from which I had first started my venture. Musing, however, on Ulysses’ words: “for my purpose Ira/(1’s T0 sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until Idle. ”I resolved to “smite the sounding furrows”, and pointed Tota north straight out Tracadie Bay.
