NORTH SHORE HOCKEY JANUARY 8th, 1934

The Indian River Rovers and the Baltic Rangers occupy jointly the top

rung of the North Shore Circuit, as a result of a double-header played in Kensington Rink Thursday evening.

The former handed the Irishtown Wolves a 5-0 lacing, and the latter played a l-all draw with New Annan. McKay, the Irishtown goalie, hurt early in the game did not play his usual high-class game, and the Rovers, led by their flashy left winger, Reuben Heckbert, unleashed a formidable bombardment of long shots which brought home the bacon. Mr. Heckbert went on a scoring spree and notched up three in rapid succession, E. Mills assisting in the second. The Wolves, short of practice, experimented a lot

with their lines, the Champion-Profit-Champion combination working to the best advantage.

In the second game, the 1933 champions, on the short end of a 1-0 score, drove their supporters into ecstacies by scoring the tying goal in the final minute of play, R. McDonald, centre, circling the net, to poke the rubber

inside the left goal post. Riley, the Baltic tornado, catapulted down the ice in the middle of the final frame to score the Rangers’ counter.
