MACLEAN, KENNETH MACGREGOR

The. farm owned by Kenneth MacGregor MacLean was formerly owned by John Lecky (135 acres) and Alex MacDonald (58 acres). It was purchased by his father, Roy E. MacLean, son of Wm. J. and Isabelle Smith MacLean, in 1910 from Joseph Lecky, son of John Lecky (193 acres).

Joseph had a brother, James who worked on the farm with him but never married. Joseph married Elizabeth MacKinnon of Grand River and

had two daughters, Gertrude and Pearle and when they sold the farm, moved to Miscouche.

Roy E. MacLean marrie.d Isabel MacGregor and they had four children. Gwendolyn B. married Frank MacNutt of Malpeque and they have two daughters, lsabel and Eleanor. Kenneth M. married Mary B. Marchbank of

-New Annan and they have twin daughters, Gail, R.N., PH.N. and Gloria

also Marilyn B.Sc (Home Ec.) who married David Large, MD. of Ch’town, has two sons, Peter and Phillip and they live in Liverpool, N.S. A son, Roy lives on the home farm. Donald E. married Jean MacLeod. They live in Ch’town and have Judith, Allan and Heather. Marjorie L. married N.W. Underwood (deceased). She lives in Ottawa and has one daughter, Joan

living in Summerside.

HAZEL MILLER

Hazel is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Miller. Her home was built in 1961, on land that had been part of the David, then Kenny

Lecky farm.

Hazel worked out of the Welfare Department Charlottetown Office for over thirty«five years, and a year with the Summerside Office. In 1967, Canada’s 100th Anniversary, she was awarded the Centennial Medal, in

recognition of valuable service to the Nation.

ROY LARGE PROPERTY All that is known is that three Large brothers came out to Prince Ed- ward lsland from lreland and settled around Crapaud and Tryon. One of them, Richard, settled in Albany and married Mary Hall. Family were

Henry and Sarah.

Henry moved to Summerside and married Susan Harvey of Linkletter Road. They moved to the present holding, which had belonged to her uncle, William Harvey, around 1858. Henry’s family were Harvey, Russell, Arthur, Charles, EliZa, Sarah and Nancy. Harvey remained on the farm, marrying Purdy Millman of Port Hill. Their family are Roy and Gertrude, who live on the homestead. The bulk of the farmland has been sold for

community pasture.
