DesBrisay, Lot 33, according to a survey conducted by John Stewart in 1779, still contained few settlers other than the overflow trickle from Lots 34 (AAonygomery's Scottish Highlanders), 35 and 36 (MacDonald townships to the east). The latter part of the 18th century saw more immigration, chiefly from England , such that the settlement continued to grow in population and prosperity. In 1797, the House of Assembly resolved that Lot 33 was settled agreeably according to the terms of the grant. The population amounted to one hundred souls and had a total of twelve families.
