Issac Essery

He was born on the paternal homestead on June 2, 1847. The paternal grandfather, Anthony Essery, was a native of England and never left his homeland. Issac’s parents were William and Mary (Beare) Essery, the former a native of the parish of Little Tarrington, Devonshire, England and born in 1802. He came to P.E.I. in 1820. In 1880, he owned 100 acres of land in Brackley and was considered one of the finest farmers on the Island. He was both a proficient farmer and dairyman. He belonged to the Methodist faith and attended the local church. In 1877, he married Mary Holman, daughter of James and Martha of Devonshire, England. They had six children. Issac, who had a deep interest in education, served as member of the School Board for years.

Henry Horne

He was born in P.E.I. on June 24, 1861. He was the son of Edmond and Charlotte (Spitteel) Horne. Edmond was the son of John and Elizabeth (Hawley) Horne. John was born in England on September 2, 1824, and was a ieweller who became a farmer. In 1831, he came to P.E.|. but he left for the states after a few years on the Island. Henry was raised in Brackley and attended local schools. He and his father farmed 225 acres. He and his brother also owned three 100 acre tracts of land. He voted for the Con- servative Party and was a member of the School Board. He married Pricilla Bryenton, the daughter of John and Harriet Bryenton. They had two

children, Edmond and Herbert.

Walter Mallefl

He was born near Ipswich, England, in May, 1832. He was the son of Robert and Lydia (Bryenton) Mallett also natives of England. Robert came to P.E.|. in 1835, and settled in Brackley where he followed agricultural pursuits. He died in 1876, with his wife Lydia predeceasing him in 1868. They were the parents of four children, Robert, William, John, and Walter. Walter attended district schools and was reared to farming pursuits. By the 1900’s, he owned 85 acres of tillable land. A substantial barn, comfortable residence, and well kept fences were but a few of Walter Mallett’s achievements. He carried on general farming, extensive gardening and raised livestock. He married the former Caroline Rodd, who bore him seven sons and four daughters - John, Cephas, David, Wallace, Hammond, Alphonso, Ambrose, Lydia, Fannie, Mary, and Lillian. He was a staunch Methodist, who served his community as a School Trustee for a number of

years. He voted Liberal.
