The debate that grew out of the discussion was very lively; none of the standard subiects such as ”The pen is mightier than the sword” could elicit the response of the pro-cars against the cons and vice-versa.

I had a First Class License but there were only 23 schools in Prince Edward Island at this time in which First Class statutory pay was received; so I got 2nd Class Female salary, $180.00 per annum; $35.00 from the district and a bonus of approximately $20.00 for pupil average.

I give this list of pupils from memory: Arthur Roper, Fred Roper, Leslie Bryenton, Ernest MacMillan, Lester Diamond, Roy Diamond, Earl Clark, Guy Pierce, Isabel MacMillan, Sadie MacMillan, Wesley MacMillan, Robert MacMillan, Alberta MacMillan, Edith Newson, Florence Newson, Emons Newson, Theodore Newson, Willard Prowse, May Prowse, Fanny Sellick, Roland Sellick, Wellington Dixon, Arthur Dixon, Esther Dixon, Hazel

Jackson, George Jackson.
