traverses the length of the Brackley Pt. Road. The water is pumped into any of three reservoirs located between Oak Ave. and Pine St. in Sherwood . At this point, the water is available to the residents of Charlottetown and vicinity by means of interconnecting City water lines. In recent years, the City of Charlottetown has acquired more property on the watershed in the locale of the Brackley Pt. Road. To date, there are twenty-five shallow wells and three deep wells in the Brackley area. The Department of Environment has also established a test well in Brackley , which serves to record the level of the Winter River . In 1948, when it became apparent that the City of Charlottetown required more water, the Water Commissioners approached Guy Pierce of Brackley , for permission to have a pipeline laid between the Union Rd. pumping station and the Brackley Pt. Road transmission line, through his property. In this manner, the pipeline was expanded to insure the availability of additional water as required by the City. Brackley , is a proven source of water for the City of Charlottetown . Little more than a year ago, the water was streaming out the door of the Brackley pumping station and overflowing the pumps. The same thing took place shortly afterwards at the Department of Environment test well in Brackley . The implications of such floodings are clear; it will be a long time before the wells located in the Brackley area cease to provide water. The results of this discovery lend support to the rumor that in future, Brackley is to be developed to the extent that it will be "the major water supply source on P.E.I. "All this, thanks to the Winter River and the full-fledged support of the residents of Brackley . 41
