This year the Brackley Women’s Institute is celebrating its 30th an- niversary. Since its inception, the Institute has done much good for the community and has succeeded in bringing women of diverse ages and occupations together for the enrichment of all. Following is a copy of an article that appeared in the Charlottetown “Guardian”, Monday Oct. 4, I976. It accurately states the Executive, functions, and future proiects of the Brackley Women’s Institute.
Brackley - President Mrs. Charles Chandler opened the annual meeting of the Brackley Women’s Institute held at the home of Mrs. Hugh Campbell with a full attendance of members.
Donations for the year included those for Home Ec., law scholarship, music festival, heart foundation, mammograph machine, multiple sclerosis, nutrition education trust fund, and cerebral palsy. Members also collected for the Cancer Society and the Salvation Army. The Institute catered to a workshop and were hostess to a local district convention.

Red Cross, Mrs. George Jackson; United Nations, and letter friends, Mrs. Larry Cudmore; cultural activities, Mrs. David Jenkins; health, Mrs. Hedley Stewart; Home Ec., Mrs. Roland Home; Education, Mrs. Hugh Campbell; Citizenship, Mrs. Harvey Jenkins; Agriculture, Mrs. Eugene Gray; water safety, Mrs. Donald Jenkins.
The members decided to try to rent a rink for a family skate during the winter. Mrs. Eugene Gray, Mrs. Larry Cudmore and Mrs. Hugh Campbell volunteered to work on this project.
From reading this article it is evident that the Brackley Women’s In- stitute in I976, have far surpassed the original objectives set down by the earliest Institute members in I947. Pictured below are the present mem- bers of the Brackley Women’s Institute.
