MODERN BRACKLEY

) Out of approximately 65 families, there are only 10 families who still farm. However, there are an additional 6 forms in Brackley that are still in production. The farm lands are rented. These forms are; 1. Ivan Bryenton’s, rented to Keith Cudmore and sons, 2. Guy PierCe’s rented to Harold Morrow of Harrington; 3. Les Prowse’s property, rented to Adrian and Barry Uyterlinde of Brackley. 4. The former Willard Prowse’s property, farmed by Lewis Brothers of Little York R.R. No. i. 5. The former Harold Stead Property, now owned by Dr. George Bishop, residing in Lexington, Kentucky, is managed by John Gunning. 6. The former Brent Diamond Property, now ’ owned by Charles Chandler. The reason farming has declined in Brackley is that most of the farmers have retired and too late discovered that their sons and daughters were interested in other pursuits, such as, chartered accountancy, mechanics, nursing, teaching, etc. Therefore, when one travels through Brackley today, they see more than iust a farming com- munity. There are quite a number of businesses and two tourist sites.
