As someone has earlier stated, "The old Warship fought again . The Welcome capsized off East Point on the morning of
April 29, leé. The ship sailed from Lunenburg. The only sur—
vivor was Israel Spindler of Lunenburg. She was missed during a gale and heavy sea. HShe was capsized by the heavy sea and lay on her beam endslt Spindler was rescued by John J. Campbell and John MacPhee. The wreck was later hauled to Campbell's Cove Breakwater, righted and pumped. The bodies recovered were later buried in Kingsboro Cemetery. Their relatives have visited the graves. The welcome was later repaired and sailed by Captain Farrer from Crapaud, Prince Edward Island.94 Following is Israel Spindler's Account: The schooner welcome was lost off East Pbint on August 29,1885. From Israel Spindler a native of South Harbour, Riverport and sole survivor of the Welcome we get a first hand report of the tragedy. He said that on August 28, they were four miles off shore from East Point when they were caught in a storm unable to reach Souris in timeo Soon they had to anchor for the night to mend the sails that had ripped with the strong winds and rain. Next morning at 7:00 they started out again. Israel Spindler recalls going gffi and talking to the skipper, Albert Himmelman, who was at
the wheel. Mr. Spindler's brother became aft,
