2e James b. 6 Nov. 1846. As a young man, James went to Boston Mass. to seek his fortune. Later he moved to Chicago where he m. Martha E. Harvey in 1872. He d. in Chicago 3 Oct. 1919. They had six children: Annie E., Ida, Martha, Maude, Clarence A. and Milton E. In July 1914, an awful catastrophe, a railway accident, took away two daughters, Ida and Maude and their husbands at one dreadful stroke. James was conspicuous by his absolute integrity and unfailing piety.

+2f William John b. 31 Oct. 1849 in Freetown. He m. Elizabeth Stetson, step daughter of Thomas Drummond. She was b. in 1860.

2g Elizabeth Ann b. 13 Dec. 1853 in Freetown. She m. John Henry Lewis in 1881. He was b. in 1846, the son of John and Sarah (Van Buskirk) Lewis. It was at the home of Henry and Elizabeth that Jennie

Dammarell daughter of Frederick Dammarell was brought up. She m. Scott Jardine. (See Jardine history.) Elizabeth d. 29 Dec. 1932 age 79. Henry (1. 30 Sept. 1930 age 84.

+2a Gustavus Hannaford Dammarell

Gustavus was a wheelwright and purchased a lot in Freetown Village from Samuel Clow in June 1876 (code 72). Here he operated a shop for several years. In 1894 they decided to leave Freetown, sold the house and lot to George H. Taylor and moved to the US. His son Edgar was eighteen years of age when they moved.

The family was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Freetown.

Gustavus was b. 27 May 1837 in the State of Washington. He m. Elizabeth Yeo, Lot 31. She was b. 1841 and d. 4 Oct. 1905 with typhoid fever. He d. in Nov. 1916. They are bur. in Cloverdale, Wash. State.

Gustavus and Elizabeth (Yeo) Dammarell had three sons and three daughters. They all lived on RE]. until 1894.

1. Laura b. in 1871. 2. Arthur b. 1874. 3. Edgar b. 1876. Edgar m. Nellie Middleton who was b. in Bath, Ont. They were m. in Pembina, North Dakota in 1897. One of Edgars’ daughters, Edith m. Melvin Wirt 21 Apr. 1934. They reside in Kent, Wash. State. They have two chilidren: (a) Nancy Lee m. to Lanney E. Grove. (b) Ruth Karin m. C.C. Calligan. Edgar had ten children. He died 24 July 1946 in Walla Walla, Wash. 4. Emma b. 10 July 1878 d. 29 Oct. 1956. 5. Edith b. 1881 lived about one month. 6 Wesley b. 1886.

+2c Robert Wills Dammarell Robert Wills Dammarell resided on a 100 acre farm on the Drummond Road, (code 111). He sold this farm to George Cooke in 1882 and moved to the farm (code 118) where Waldon Heffell resides in 1984.

Robert Wills was b. 1 Apr. 1842 in the State of Washington. He m. Elizabeth Mitchell, of North Wiltshire. She was b. 4 Mar. 1840. Robert Wills d. 21 Dec. 1930 and his wife Elizabeth d. 16 Dec. 1934. They are both bur. in the United Church Cem. in Freetown.

Robert and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Dammarell had eleven children.

3a 2c Elizabeth Melinda b. 26 July 1870. She m. Gordon Burns Freetown. He was b. 1873. They had five children. (See Burns history.)

3b 2c Ida May b. 3 Sept. 1872. She m. William Smith, New Glasgow. They had three children. Stella, Leith and Robert. She (1. ca. 1930 and he d. 4 July 1901. They are bur. in New Glasgow Cem.

+3c 2c Edison b. 29 Nov. 1874. 3d 2c Thomas Franklin b. 9 Jan. 1877-1890.

3e 2c Robert Bruce b. 30 Oct. 1879 and d. 11 Apr. 1880.

3f 2c Caroline Wills b. 13 Jan. 1884. She m. Edmund Burns, Freetown. He was b. 7 Jan. 1875. They had three sons, 1. Brenton, 2. Lloyd and 3. Robert. Caroline d. 3 Apr. 1972 and Edmund d. 13 Mar. 1955.

3g 2c Leslie b. ca. 1886. Leslie worked at R.T. Holman Ltd. and then went to the Yukon where he stayed for some time before enlisting in the First World War. He served overseas and was killed in action

just a short time before the Armistice was signed.

3h 2c Frank b. ca. 1887. He m. a lady from Quebec. He was a well driller in Western Canada. They had a family of five: 1. June Elizabeth b. 17 June 1921. 2. Robert Wills b. 18 May 1923. 3. Edna Lillian b. 12 Dec. 1926, In. Mr. Whitten. 4. Donald Franklin b. 11 Aug. 1928. 5. Richard Elwin b. 4 Dec. 1929.
