After John's death, his son Ronald farmed for about a year. The farm was then sold to Edwin Lewis . Jennie moved to Charlottetown to live with her sister Irene, ( Mrs. Albert Baker ). Jennie was a member of the Baptist Church, Central Bedeque , and a member of the Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Women's Institute. She worked in St. Joseph's Hospital. She m. 19 Nov. 1943, Adam John Charlton of St. John. Later they moved to Dartmouth, N.S. She continued her work at the Izaak Walton Killam Hospital and teaching Medical Technology at the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. Jack was an insurance salesman. He d. 3 Dec. 1971. He was a member of Rev. A.G. Crowe 's Boy Scout Troop. He became a King Scout , and this honour was bestowed on him by Lord Baden Powell on one of his visits to the Island. He attended Prince of Wales College, taking business. Later, he worked on his father's farm in Freetown . He did the bookkeeping for Lewis & Lewis, as well as keeping the milk records of his father's herd of Ayrshires. He m. 21 June 1941, Hilda Elizabeth Deacon , dau. of Frank and Lulu (Hooper) Deacon. They lived in the former home of George's grandfather, Jonah, on the outskirts of the village. In 1940, George started working for the Federal Government in the Plant Protection Division as Seed Potato Inspector . His work took him to many parts of the Island. They moved to Charlottetown in 1951 to their home on Road. He worked in the office in Charlottetown as well as doing field work. He also did testing for ring rot. Nursey stock was also inspected. The last few years, he was involved with the Florida Seed Testing program, which required going to Florida in Nov. and Jan. inspecting seed plots. In 1981, he received a Certificate of Merit and Medal from the Federal Government for forty-one years of loyal service. He was interested in the Rural Beautification Program and was a j udge for their competitions. He served on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army. He was a member of First United Baptist Church and served as deacon, Sunday School Supt., and other offices. He had many hobbies such as photography and wood turning. He was a licensed Ham Radio operator. He d. 12 June 1983; bur. in Central Bedeque Cem. Hilda was assistant leader of the Girl Guides in Freetown and a member of the Women's Institute. Since moving to Charlottetown, she became involved with many aspects of church work; does volunteer work at the Q.E. Hospital and the . Her interests are needlework and gardening, the growing of African Violets being her speciality. Her plants have won many awards at shows. John received degrees from Canadian and American Universities; served a pastorate at First Baptist, Charlottetown, P.E.I , and at Upper Canard N S He is currently teaching in the School of Business, Acadia University, N.S.
