4c 3a2i Elsie Jean b. 12 Oct, 1922. She was educated at Freetown school and Prince of Wales College.

She taught school at Freetown and Fredericton. She m. 5 July 1944, Donald Murray Longworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Longworth, Woodstock, Ont. They lived in Guelph, Ont. In 1948, they went to San Jose, Costa Rica, as missionaries under the Latin American Mission auspices. Ira, Vaunda, Shirley and J. B. Lewis had an interesting visit with Don and Jean, in Costa Rica. Jean d. 22 Dec. 1956 at Costa Rica of encephalitis, age 34. She was buried there. Claude and Mildred Lewis went to Costa Rica in Feb. 1957. Don and children returned with them and stayed for about a year before returning to Costa Rica. They had four ch. surname Longworth (first two b. in Ont. next two in Costa Rica).

+4d3a2i Edwin King Lewis

Edwin was b. 15 Dec. 1926. He was named for Edwin King, Orient Point, NY. who came to Freetown several times at the beginning of potato growing. He approached the Lewis’ to grow potatoes for him and they loaded as many as three boats at Summerside Harbour, on one occasion, destined for Long Island, NY.

Edwin was educated in the district school and Prince of Wales College. He m. Marjorie Colleen MacLean of Charlottetown. He was actively engaged in farming on the home farm from an early age, and presently is operating 1200 acres (mixed farming with 500 acres of potatoes) and Holstein-Friesian cattle, (1984-5 ). His interests are the educational opportunities of the students who pass through schools in his province; a school trustee with a small local board in Freetown; in 1962 was one of main figures in establishing Athena Regional High School; became chairman of Athena Regional High School Board; became first chairman of Unit 2 School Board when the larger units of administration were formed. Served a number of years as President of the P.E.I. Association of School Boards; served as Chairman of the Minister of Education’s Educational Planning Unit. (In all served twenty-four years as a school trustee, eight years as a school board chairman, four years as President of the P.E.I. Association of School Boards and four years as a Provincial Director for his Province on the Canadian School Trustee Association Executive). In 1978, Edwin received an Honorary C.S.T.A. Life Membership in the Association. He was the first chairman of the Provincial Products Marketing Board during which time on behalf of the province he signed the first Milk Market- Sharing Quota agreement in 1971.

Colleen is teaching at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School in Kensington. She is presently working on a Master of Education thesis. Colleen was b. 15 May 1929 at Montague. They have two ch. surname Lewis.
