Percy was a farm labourer and worked at many farms in Freetown . + 2 i Leaman Murl Leaman attended Freetown school. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941, in Charlottetown . He was posted to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in the 3rd Division of the 9th Brigade. He served for the duration of World War II in Canada , England and Europe. He was discharged as Transport Corporal in 1946. He joined the militia in 1951, and has served with the P.E.I. Light Horse, the Korean Special Force, 17th Recca Regiment and the P.E.I. Regiment . He was promoted to Sergeant in 1954, and to Master Warrant Officer in 1955. His total military service is in excess of 24 years. With the re-organization of militia in 1970, MWO Murl was posted to Militia and served as Senior Vehicle Technician. Col. L.G. MacNevin , Commander of the P.E.I. Militia District, presented him with the 20-year clasp for his Canadian Forces Decoration. It is awarded for 12 years service. Qualifying requirements include efficiency and good conduct. He received a medal and citation on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, 1st July 1967. Leaman worked with Green's Garage 1955-66; Bowley's Transport 1963-65; drove a Unit III school bus and was mechanical maintenance man 1965-72; he was transportation supervisor for Unit III school board from 1972-81, until ill health forced him to retire. He started with the Boy Scouts in Freetown , and became a Leader of the Boy Scout Troop in East Royalty from 1967-73. He took a group of Boy Scouts to Expo in 1967. PATRICK MURPHY The 1841 Census records show that Patrick Murphy leased land in Freetown Lot 25 on the (codes 32 and 29) each contained 50 acres, the latter became known as the "Little Paddy Farm " It appears that Patrick had a brother Felix John . The buildings were located on code 32 which were taken over by son Barnabus , "Barney", after Patrick's death. Barney sold 25 acres to Thomas Curley and 25 acres to Felix Curley around 1900, before he moved to Emerald . Patrick was b. in Ireland 1821. He m. Rosee McEntee who was b. in Ireland in 1826. She was a sister of John McEntee 's father. Patrick and Rosee had a family of four all b. in Freetown , and surname Murphy. + 2a Barnabus (Barney) b. 1866. He m.
