Among the thirty—seven householders were four couples with no children,and thirty-three families with an average of six persons per family. Table 2 shows the population by age and gender. Seventy—three percent (155 persons) were born in Ireland. Twenty—one percent (45 persons) were born in Prince Edward Island. The remainder (12 persons) were born in un— named countries. All, except one person, were members of

the Roman Catholic Church; the one exception was a member of

the Church of Scotland.

Twenty—one householders held leases to land; nine householders held land ”by verbal agreement;" one person had inherited land "by written demise;" and, one owned land. Five householders did not hold any land. Of the thirty-two who held land, twenty. occupied one hundred acres or more each; twelve others held fifty acres, each. Together they occupied a total of 2726 acres,

cultivation.

All householders but one, a wheelright, gave as their occupation, farming; but three farmers gave secondary occupations of joiner, tailor and weaver. Table 3 shows the amounts of
