Among the thirty-seven householders were four couples with no children,and thirty-three families with an average of six persons per family. Table 2 shows the population by age and gender. Seventy-three percent (155 persons) were born in Ireland. Twenty-one percent (45 persons) were born in Prince Edward Island . The remainder (12 persons) were born in un¬ named countries. All, except one person, were members of the rvoman Catholic Church; the one exception was a member of the Church of Scotland. Five householders did not hold any land. Of the thirty-two who held land, twenty, occupied one hundred acres or more each; twelve others held fifty acres, each. Together they occupied a total of 2726 acres, of which only 153 acres w^s arable, i .e., cleared and under cultivation. All householders but one, a wheelright, gave as their occupation, farming; but three farmers gave secondary occupations of joiner, tailor and weaver.
