The transept is octagonal, with a high dome, and alternating traceried windows and panels; the latter of which will be finished with large oil paintings of sacred subjects.
The chancel, which is large and beautifully finished and lighted, and which has a hard- wood floor, is one of the finest we have seen anywhere. It is a seven-sided apse 28 by 28 feet, with stained glass figured windows. The sanctuary is lofty in design and beautifully finished throughout; and over the high altar is a dove, a most artistic specimen of Mr. Antoine Vincent's carving. The altar rail is a fine piece of work in walnut, cypress and whitewood. In each wing of the chancel is a side—altar, with very pretty carving, done by Mr. Clovis Arsenault, of Micouche, and with arching which will admit of effective decor— ation.
The interior of the sacristy is finished in the same style as the interior of the church, and it is most conveniently and neatly arranged, with dust-proof closets for vestments and altar equipment. There will also be an altar for Parochial mass. The church will be heated throughout with steam, and will be very comfortable.
Mr. W. C. Harris was architect. Mr. Allan McDonald of Kinkora built the foundation and basement walls. Mr. Francis Bradley, Kelly's Cross, was contractor for the superstructure, with Mr. Clovis Arsenault, Miscouche, as fore- man. mr. D. Mackenzie of Tryon was the painter, and performed the work in an excellent manner. Mr. Peter Quigley of Summerside did the lawn grading.
The grounds about the church and the parochial house, which is a hundred feet or so to the west of the church and which is a handsome cottage, are really beautiful. There are hedges and wind-breaks of spruce and hard— wood, with ornamental and shade trees of maple and elm. In the rear of the church is the graveyard where the pioneers of Kinkora sleep their last long sleep; and adjoining it one the west is a large orchard. The view on all sides is especially fine, Kinkora and the adjoining districts forming one of the most thriving and attractive sections of the Province....
It is a matter of congratulations to Rev. J.J. McDonald and his parishioners, that the new church although undertaken only a year ago, is now entirely paid for. At the dedication ceremonies the handsome collection of $360. was taken which oes towards the furnishing of the church. (18
