Souris Baptist Church

The Baptist Church was organized in Souris in 1879. The Rev. J .A. Gordon, Kingsboro, held services in Morrow’s Hall. Rev. R.B. Kinley also ministered there.‘3

Among the members of the first congregation were Captain Remick and his wife Mary (MacPhee) and other members of the MacPhee families.“

In 1886 a church was erected and was served by Rev. A.A. McLeod, the Kingsboro pastor. A newspaper item reported the following ministers as being present and taking part at the opening service: The Rev. Mr. Good- speed, editor of The Christian Visitor, Rev. Messrs Ross, McLeod and Schwofield.45
