J.FRANKGAUDET Frank was Prince Edward Island 's first District Forester in 1950. He was later appointed Director of Forestry for the Island — a post he retained for 29 years. He was also one of Southport 's best known and respected citizens. Frank was community minded and started the first Cub Pack in the Village. He spent a great deal of his spare time, including his summer vaca¬ tions, with "his boys" at , training and encouraging them in the use of their skills in the great outdoors. Many of our boys have gone through Cubs and on to Scouts under Frank's capable direction. He was very much interested in painting and woodworking. If a logo or sign was needed for something, the first thought was "Let's ask Frank, he'll do it" and he always was more than willing to help in any way he could. He was loved by young and old alike and his passing this year brought a great sense of loss, not only to his family and friends, but to the whole com¬ munity of Southport . 62
