DUNCAN HOUSE (formerly Keppoch Beach Hotel)

The building was erected about 1840 by Andrew and James Duncan, and called Keppoch Farm House. It was bought in 1854 by Dr. Henry Hillcoat, a Justice of the Peace for Queens County. It was acquired in 1858 by Charles Welsh, and his family held it until 1922. It was operated from 1922-1965 by W.H.V. Dunbar and others as the well—known summer resort, the Keppoch Beach Hotel. The house then lay vacant and vandalized until 1974, when it was purchased by Tom McMillan, MP, and Dr. Charles McMillan. They moved it a half—mile north of its original location to a spot on— the east side of Keppoch Road. Today, fully restored, it is the home of Tom and Kathy McMillan.
