Evidently he did not sell his lease, for in late 1838 or 39 Thomas donated land from his farm on the "" ( now) to be used for a Methodist cemetery; an adjacent quarter-acre of land for a Methodist church was donated by John Curtis Lawson . The first burial in the new cemetery was that of Margaret Foster , third daughter of Thomas, who died on December 24, 1843, aged 22. The Methodist church was built in 1842; for details see the chapter on Church History. The deed for the cemetery land was not made out until many years later (as often happened then), and was signed by Thomas' son David, then owner of the farm. Thomas Foster was one of the trustees signing the deed for the transfer of John Curtis Lawson 's land for the church. The Fosters eventually had eleven children, and acquired several more parcels of land in addition to the original farm. Thomas Foster 's Will, written in 1862, was probated in 1867, and in it he remembered each of his children; it also gives information on his land holdings: ???
