In the spring of 1967, Hector and his brother Donald of Boston, Mass. and his cousin Thomas Hall of Summerside bought Kiloran Lodge with 22 acres of land from Mrs. Minnie MacFadyen and Mrs. Dorothy Douglas. Hector and Deanna operated the Lodge and cottages, living in Stanhope in the summer, and moving here to live year-round, after selling their Charlottetown home in 1969. The summer business, with the Brigadoon campground, which started in 1970, continued until 1976, when ill-health forced the selling of the cottages and some land. For further details on Kiloran Lodge and Brigadoon, please see the section on Tourism.
