Martin home on Stanhope Eastern Road 1982 Parks Canada - Joe Hickey
On November 15, 1866 a lease on 100 acres of land on the south side of the Stanhope East Road was transferred from Dougald McIsaac to John Martin. At this time, the buildings were at the back of the farm, near the Pleasant Grove boundary. John built a new home near the East Road in 1880; new farm buildings were also erected. In 1883, 50 additional acres of leased land were transferred to John Martin from Donald MacAulay.

3. Daniel (Donald in the 1881 census), b. 1866, m. 18 Sept, 1900 to Eliza McIntyre,
dau. of John and Flora (McDonald) McIntyre of Millcove. They moved to Massachusetts.
4. John Angus, b. 22 Man, 1869. d. 18 Feb., 1955, m. 21 Feb., 1911 to Katherine McGrath (b. 1876, d. 21 Dec., 1923), dau. of William McGrath of Vernon River. 6 0., see below.
John Martin passed on his farm to his son John Angus Martin. Daniel Martin inherited his grandfather Donald MacAulay’s farm on the north side of the Stanhope East Road; John Angus bought this 92 acres from his brother Daniel. He farmed this land and later rented part of it to Captain Dicks who used it for a golf course when he owned
