Rupert Ross house on Bay shore Road built 1905 Anne Ross coll. this land bordered the Shore for the whole width of the farm. Rupert received $35 per acre for tilled land and $10 per acre for the dune land. At various times Rupert sold parcels of land to different people who then built summer homes; included are such names as Warren Duchemin , Mamie Drew , Gordon MacDonald , Webster, Loughlin, Clarkin , Hyndman, Korrey, Wilson, Andrew Malcolm , and Gordon Bennett . Rupert deeded the house and land on the to his son Reginald, who with his wife Anne lived there with Rupert for several years before moving to live on the Stanhope on land formerly owned by Frank McCabe , in a house built by George Ross . He worked for Parks Canada at Dalvay from 1955 as a carpenter and later, from 1958 as foreman. From 1976 he worked for the Park at Cavendish as maintenance supervisor; he was forced to retire in 1982 because of ill-health.
