STAVERT Peter Stavert (1841-1906) was the son of Thomas and Margaret (Boa) Stavert of Wilmot Valley. Peter married Elizabeth Auld (1846-1910) of Covehead, in 1872. They farmed where Ira Arsenault lives, also owning a fifty-acre strip of land in Lot 19 where James Smallman lives (1979). Thomas had owned the Lot 25 portion since 1863, according to Lake’s Topographical Map. Peter and Elizabeth had a family of nine children. The family were very quiet; whether their Presbyterian up-bringing was so strict as to hamper their courtships is unknown; whatever the case may be, eight of the children did not marry. Fred, May and Annie continued to farm after their father’s death. The Staverts lived in Wilmot Valley until about 1940. The family of Peter and Elizabeth were: Thomas Addison (1873-1897), Robert Hensley (1874-1941), Alice Bertha (1876-1928), Joseph Fred (1878- 1937), Annie H. Annie moved to Kensington and May joined her after a brief stay at the Harry Simmons home. SIMMONS The Stavert farm was sold to Brecken Simmons, of Wilmot, and he and his sons farmed the land. The site of the house remained vacant until 1945 when the Simmons family purchased the house of Wyman Clark and moved it there. Keith and Ethel Simmons lived there when they were first married in 1945 and were joined by Herbert and Ella who were also married in the same year. In 1949 Keith and Ethel moved across the Blueshank to the Harry Waugh farm. Herbert Davis Simmons (1918) was the son of Brecken J. and Mary (Moase) Simmons.
