Footsteps Across The Bridge 159 John Jesse (Aug. 10, 1854) went to California. He married and had a daughter, Mrs. Maude Sheridan. He settled in Chula Vista, Califor- nia. Frances or “Fanny” (June 17, 1856-July 26, 1857) is buried in the Wilmot Valley cemetery. HUESTIS George Gordon Huestis (Aug. 17, 1859—1951) was the son of Stephen and Ada (Lefurgey) Huestis who farmed where Gordon l-Iuestis now lives. Gordon was born in Auburn, Iowa, but his family returned to P.E.I. in 1861. Gordon married Francis Hogg (1866—1926), daughter of Walter Weeks and Eliza (Hall) Hogg from the Taylor Road, on Dec. 25, 1890. Gordon settled on the farm of his grandfather, George Lefurgey, and farmed. Gordon and Francis had five children: Lillian Ada (Oct. 30, 1891—Apr. 5, 1966) married Brenton Waugh of Wilmot. They had one daughter, Francis Ann Hall. George Emerson (Dec. 30, 1893-1975) married Beatrice MacCabe on Sept. 26, 1942. Emerson received his BA. and B.D. after attending Mount Allison University and Acadia University. He was a Baptist minister and held various fields in the Maritimes before settling in Truro, NS. Robert Earle (Feb. 11, 1896-1971) married Effie Waugh who was from the Taylor Road. They farmed at Earle’s grandfather’s farm and Effie and her son Wendell still live there. Albert Stephen (June 17, 1898) married Ida MacKenzie. They farmed in Seven Mile Bay, and had a family of three children: Ewen Gordon, Mary Christine and Derwyn Bell. Stephen and Ida now live in Wilmot. Horace Evan (Nov. 30, 1901) married Marion Crozier and farmed on the farm of his parents. Horace farmed with his brother, Earle. Horace married Marion (Sept. 19, 1911) in 1928. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Jane (Simpson) Crozier who lived on the Taylor Road. Horace served as director of the Farmer’s Institute for many years and also sold gasoline and oil, which he delivered to the various farms if necessary. Horace was very musical and played the harmonica at many community events. His friendliness, cheer- fulness and active participation in community affairs have combined to make him an entertaining conversationalist, who can tell many tales from days gone by. Horace and Marion had a family of four: Earl Kenneth (March 21, 1930), married Eleanor Moase, and bought his father’s farm.
