166 A Bridge To The Past Across the road from the Quigley home is the home of Melbourne Sobey. The Sobey farm was originally part of the two hundred and fifty acres which was drawn in 1784 by William Scincebock. The land later belonged to James Lefurgey and then to Calvin Lefurgey. On Lake’s Topographical Map of 1863 George Doull appears to have owned a lot and probably had some sort of carpentry or cabinet shop there. Later, Arte-mas Morrow appears to have lived on this small lot. MORROW Artemas Morrow was born on Prince Edward Island and was a school teacher. He taught school in Wilmot Grove, and married Ellen Jenkins (ca. 1854—1890) of Dundas in 1873. He turned over the deed for the lot to the school-trustees in 1869. Shortly afterward a new school was built. Ellen died in Lot 56. Artemas and Ellen had some children but no details are known. ll'I/nm/ l'u/lt’y School rm [at], will Mil/no!
