184 A Bridge To The Past Carrie Elizabeth (1882) married Rev. John H. Sellar. They went to the western Canadian provinces as missionaries, and died in Edmonton, Alberta. Their children were Horace G., Elaine and Pauline. Florence Emeline (1884-1965) married George Haviland MacCallum, son of Donald and Margaret (Doherty) MacCallum of St. Eleanor’s. He was a fox-inspector and they lived in Summerside. They had two children, Donald Haviland and Lottie Josephine. After George’s death Florence married William Cotton Schurman of North Bedeque. On the south side of the Blueshank, opposite the Huestis, or former Mclnnis property, are the attractive bungalows of John and Willard Bur- rows. These lots were formerly part of the Burrows farm, the history of which will be discussed when we deal with the road leading to Clark’s Pond. BURROWS John Andrew Burrows (1913) is the son of the late John Andrew and Elizabeth (Cairns) Burrows of Wilmot Valley. John married Lucy Simmons (Dec. 22, 1915) daughter of Brecken and Mary (Moase) Simmons of Wilmot. John farmed on the Burrows homestead until 1967. He then sold the house and farm and built a new home on the south side of the Blueshank. John was always active in the community, being involved in the Sons of Temperance, the Wilmot Valley Hall Company and being a trustee of the Wilmot Valley School for many years. Neighbouring children who dropped in to visit Lucy never went away without a treat to brighten their day. John and Lucy had three children: Edwin H. Burrows (Oct. 12, 1937) entered Radio College of Canada, Toronto, in 1958. Upon graduation he accepted a position with General Electric Co. Ltd. which was later taken over by Honeywell Co. Edwin worked on computers and, at present, is Planning Analyst Technician for the company. In 1964 he married Elizabeth Marie Budd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Budd of Toronto. Their three children are Lisa Marie (1968), David Ryan (1970) and Kevin Dean (1972). Walter Brecken was born on December 1 l, 1941, and died at seven weeks of age. Willard (April 6, 1943) married Marion Cairns of Lower Freetown, and lives immediately east of John and Lucy. BURROWS Willard Burrows married Marion June Cairns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cairns of Lower Freetown, in 1970. Willard and Marion built
