a new house on the lot adjacent to the east side of his father’s lot. Willard graduated from the Provincial Vocational Institute in 1966 and apprenticed with Schurman Construction Ltd. Upon completion of his apprenticeship he received an Interprovincial Trades Qualification Certificate in Carpen- try. In 1970 he accepted the position of Estimator of Small Contracts with Schurman Construction Co. Ltd. in Summerside. Willard and Marion have two children, Nancy Doris Ann and Willard Randy Paul, who are twins, and were born in 1973.

On the east side of the Burrows homes, still on the south side of the road, is the home of Lyman Huestis and Lyman Huestis Jr. Henry Waite lived here in 1863, but later moved opposite to the school. According to Meacham’s Atlas of 1880, John Curtis owned the land. There was a house indicated on the map as well, but Wilmot Valley residents believe that John only farmed the land. At a later date, Charles Otto Huestis bought the land, along with the Pridham property on the north side of the road.

HUESTIS

Charles Otto Huestis (Jan. 21, 1866-1940) was the son of Stephen Fulton and Ann (Lefurgey) Huestis of Wilmot Valley. Charles married Rachel Emma Stavert, daughter of Thomas and Rachel (MacMurdo) Stavert, on October 3, 1894. Charles moved from his father’s farm (the present-day Gordon Huestis farm), to this farm, and moved the house, which the MacInnis and Pridham families had lived in, across the road to its present site. Charles built an addition onto the house. Lyman and Jennie live in the original part of the house. Mr. and Mrs. Huestis moved later to Kensington. They had a family of three:

Charles Lyman (Aug. 25, 1895) married Jennie Bowness and farms at home.

Ira Willard (Jan. 12, 1900-1952) married Harriet Craswell. After her death he married Etta Stavert. Ira farmed where Layton Huestis lives (1979).

Ada Lefurgey (Nov. 7, 1904) married Waldron MacLeod Stewart, son of Douglas and Sarah (Higgins) Stewart. Waldron and Ada farmed in Kelvin Grove. Ada now resides in Kensington.

Charles Lyman was married on September 8, 1926 to Jennie MacKay Bowness, daughter of Herbert and Caroline (MacKay) Bowness of Nor- boro. Jennie was born on July 5, 1900. They live on the homestead and share their home with their son Lyman Jr.
