BARWISE
Joseph Barwise (l774-March 29, 1868) emigrated from Allenby, Cumberland, England in about 1840, according to “The Examiner” of April 13, 1868. With Joseph came his second wife, Sarah Dawson (1796— Nov. 14, 1883). Three other people appear to have immigrated to P.E.l. with them as the census of 1861 lists five natives of England in the household. Two of these people are Margaret (1826) and Joseph Jr. (1833- 1903), from the first marriage. Joseph Jr. married Eliza Picketts, and later Theresa Coulson, of Sea View. He farmed on the Stavert Huestis farm (1979). Also raised on the homestead were:
Mr. Thomas Burwise, sealed, and Harold Day. Thomas was the lust member of the Burwisefumily 10 live in Wilmol Valley.
