he moved to Toronto and served for eight years as Assistant-Secretary of the Missionary and Maintenance Department. He also served as Secretary of the Settlement Committee and Assistant—Secretary of the Maritime Conference. In 1972, while Associate Minister at St. Paul’s Church in Fredericton, N.B., he was elected President of the Maritime

Conference. He is now retired.

John Leland Taylor (1896—1968) was brought up in the Picketts home by his aunt and uncle, Jane and John. He was the son of George and Ger— trude (Cairns) Taylor of Bedeque. Gertrude died when Lee was two years old. Lee left P.E.I. for Western Canada in 1918 and later became an engineer for the C.N.R. He lived in Winnipeg and married Esther Mon- tgomery. They had one son, Elton Taylor, who might be familiar to some as a member of the famous Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Darrell married Katherine Clarke who is the daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Walker) Clarke of Wilmot Valley. Darrell raised grain and potatoes. He has always been noted for his kindness and takes great interest in the children of the community and in the children of his employees. He was very active in school, church and temperance work. He also served as Justice of the Peace for many years. Katherine and Darrell have always welcomed visits from children and friends alike at their home.

GAUDET

Slightly south of the Picketts home is the home of Kenneth and Brenda Gaudet. This home was built by Darrell for William Gaudet, Kenny’s father, who was employed by Darrell for over twenty years.

William (April 26, 1933) was the son of Emmanuel and Marjorie (Perry) Gaudet. In 1956 he married Theresa Arsenault (April 22. 1936), daughter of John Peter and Bella (Gallant) Arsenault. After working with Darrell for many years he began to work for Stavert and Layton Huestis in 1973. The Gaudets now live in Freetown and had eight children:

Kenneth (March 3, 1957) married Brenda Gallant.

Gail (June 12, 1958) married Ronald Caissie of Maximville. Linda (Dec. 21, 1959).

Edna (Apr. 8, 1962).

Kathy (Nov. 8, 1964).

Kevin (May 3, 1966).

Donald (March 9, 1968).

Allen (Feb. 2, 1974).
