FARRAR
The Farrars came to the community in about 1962 and lived in the house which the Farris family had vacated. John William Farrar (Dec. 14, 1923) is the son of Edgar and Vina (MacPhail) Farrar of Appin Road. In 1947 he married Elga Jean Shaw (Nov. 10, 1928), who is the daughter of Gussie Davis and Louise Jane (Coughlin) Shaw of O’Leary, P.E.I. The Farrars came here from Winsloe and Bill was employed by Elmer Waugh. The Clark house burned about 1964 and the Farrars lived in the Jardine house on the Taylor Road, for about a year, before returning to the mobile home in which Bill Farris now lives. They lived in this home for several years and moved to the Charlottetown area about 1970.
Bill and Jean had six children:
Louise (March 17, 1948) married Edward Ramsay of Milton. Curtis (May 17, 1949) married Nadine Larter of North Wiltshire. Gussie (Sept. 17, 1951) married Patricia O’Donnell of Ontario. Faye (Oct. 13, 1952) married Lewis Laverty of Fort Augustus.
Brenda (July 7, 1956), called Bonnie, married Randy MacKinnon of West Royalty.
Velma (Dec. 16, 1959).
Across the road from the Bill Farris home is the Folland home. James and Frances Beaton lived here for several years.
