246 A Bridge To The Past McEWEN Walter A. McEwen (1940- ) is the son of Francis (Ted) McEwen and Mary (Burke) McEwen of Montague. He married, in September, 1965 in Toronto, Myrna Nicholson (1942- ), daughter of Malcolm Nicholson and Sally (Arsenault) Nicholson of Charlottetown. Walter went to St. Dunstan’s University. Myrna graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. In June of 1976, Walter bought seven acres of land from Ralph Hogg, on the south side of the Taylor Road, and built a new home during the summer of 1977. This attractive Cape Cod home, bordered by its sheltering grove of trees seems, even when surround- ed by snow-covered lawns, to hail the passerby with warmth and friendliness, almost tempting him to come in and make himself at home. Walter and Myrna have three sons: Michael Scott (1966), Timothy Shawn (1967) and James Walter (1975). Continuing along the road we come to Valley View Farm, the home of Alder Large. This property, as well as all the land along the Taylor Road, was originally owned by William Schurman. The first person to live here was Jonathan Hall.
