MILLER

Alexander Miller (1803-1889) married Janet Crombie. They came from North Rustico in 1853 to Wilmot Valley (or Creek) and purchased 100 acres of land from Jonathan Hall for 50 pounds. Mr. Miller had always worked on mills and in 1852 he began building the first threshing mill, trying to improve the threshing box. It is believed that he helped to invent the two-horse tread mill, a machine that was in use over fifty years ago. The Millers lived here only about ten years, moving to Bideford and selling their land back to Jonathan Hall. As a result, of their twelve children, only eight actually lived in Wilmot Valley.

William went to Illinois, U.S.A.

Delvina married Henry MacCaull of North Bedeque.

Margaret married James Matheson of South Rustico.

Isabella, Oct. 25, 1837 married Isaac Schurman, Wilmot Valley. Alexander married Sarah MacMurdo, Lot 16.

John went to U.S.A. during the Civil War and worked on a war vessel. Peter married Margaret Ann Henderson, Ellerslie.

David moved to Illinois, U.S.A.

James MacMurdo (1837—1915) married Isabel R. Neill (1845-1908). They were both from Kelvin Grove and moved to Wilmot Valley in 1864, when they purchased a farm from Jonathan Hall. James and Isabel farmed in Wilmot Valley for a short while, then moved their family out west. They later returned to Wilmot Valley and then moved to North Bedeque, where they are buried. They sold their land in this district to William Clark. They had the following family:

Bessie (1869) married (1) William F. Lyle; (2) Ben Anderson. John Anderson (1871— ) married Sadie Fraser.

Katie (1875) married Robert T. Sevitzel, in March of 1903. Adelaide did not marry.
