Being well assured that man is so constituted as to require occasional seasons of relaxation and amusement; and being moreover desirous of promoting the maintenance and establishment of relations of friendly intimacy among those who are of Scottish birth or extraction, and thus keeping alive in them an interest in Scottish manners and usuages, we do form ourselves into a club, bearing the designation of “THE CALEDONIAN CLUB OF PRINCE ED WARD ISLAN , whose chief objects shall be the encouragement and practice of the Games, and the preservation of the Customs and Manners of Scotland; the promotion of a taste for her language and literature; and binding more closely in social links the sons and daughters of our Mother Country. Preamble To Original Constitution of 1864‘

In the past 125 years, the Caledonian Club of Prince Edward Island has become a link joining this province’s Scots with their past and their means of preserving the clanship camaraderie of old. It has been, from its inception, the answer to its members’ needs for organized ties. In the sixty years that passed after the arrival of the last major emigration the Selkirk settlers three successive, formal groups of Scots flourished, all with the desire to perpetuate their national feast day and to aid their “brither Scots” whenever necessary.
