The Protestant Union, the successor to the Presbyterian and Evangelical Protestant Union,2 was primarily a religious newspaper. It printed international religious news, sermons, Bible studies, local church news, attacks on the Roman Catholic church and moral essays. News, agricultural articles, fiction, poetry, anecdotes and advertisements were all published in this paper as well. The Protestant Union was succeeded by the
Guardian.3
