When we add to this, the fact, that the seed used, has been raised in the same way, and that the same process has been continued for many seasons, we need not be surprised at lire result. It is more than probable that the rapid degeneration of grains, grasses i , vegetables and fruit is, owing to a want of thorough drainag e more than to any un- favourabloness of climate. i
