     On January 30, 1690, he and five other assistants, with the Deputy Governor, 
     
     wrote a letter to their Majesties William and Mary, congratulating them on their 
     
     accession to the crown, and informing them that since the deposition of Governor 
     
     Andros, the former government under the Charter had been resumed, and men- 
     
     tioning also the seizure of Andros in Rhode Island, and his return to Massachu— 
     
    
   
   
    
     setts on demand of the latter colony.x 
     
     Lawton died October 5, 1693, and was buried in his orchard in Portsmouth.

     birth or death. She married Stephen Wilcox (son of Edward). He was born 1633, 
     
     or about that time, and died about 1690. They were married 1658. In 1658, 
     
     Jan. 30, he had a deed of thirty—four acres from Thomas Hazard as dower with 
     
     his wife. May 18, 1669, his name was in the list of inhabitants of Westerly. 
     
     In 1670 he was complained of, with his partakers, by John Richards, Treas— 
     
     urer of Harvard College, for unjustly possessing five hundred acres in the Pequot 
     
     country, on the east side of Pawcatuck River, within the bounds of Stonington.‘
