He was called “ Shae-String” George. He lived on a farm near the Great, or Worden’s Pond. His will, proved Sept. 15, I825, gave to his wife Sarah all his estate, both real and personal, to her, her heirs and assigns forever. 367. His father gave to him by will, in I746,‘ ‘all my right ofland situate, lying and being in North Kingstown, con— taining four hundred acres, bounded Easterly, partly on country road, and partly on land of Jeremiah Hazard, Southerly on land of Samuel Watson, and partly on land of Ezekiel Gardner and others of ye Gardners, and Northerly, partly on a lot ofland that formerly belonged to my mother—in— law, Mary Wickham, deceased, and partly on land of Jeremiah Hazard, to him, his heirs and assigns forever.” This is the farm now known as the Nathan G. Hazard farm. John, son of Benjamin, was called Wickham John, because a part of his inheritance came to him through his grandmother Wickham, or Wickom, as it is spelled in the deeds.
